awkward and awesome

drawing tons of inspiration from new blogs as of late...hip, hip hooray! thanks to the day book i'm starting up a few of my regular weekly posts (remember good music monday (or was it fridays?) and scrubs day sunday and wedding wednesday?) and adding a few. 


the day book includes photos of herself and info on her current outfit on her version awkward and awesome. i'm just not that snazzy. i love blogs that do this...and we all know that i'm a big time deal finder and thus have tons to say about clothes, deals, home goods, etc....however i'm lazy and embarrassed and this is labor intensive (beg the hubs to take pics, upload pics, pick the best pics, remember what clothing item was from where....) so, likely all of that won't be happening. however, awkward and awesome will happen - here goes nothing:


awkward:

• being stuck in a snow storm and apparently losing myself while i also lose sight of the ground...how does someone who is usually so on top of things run out of TP, coffee and cat food in the middle of a storm?! SO unlike me. plus, using paper towels in the bathroom? well....you can finish that thought.
• figuring out how to drive around in this city in the snow. i'm from yakima, wa....snow is not a problem there, actually getting a snow day RARELY happened growing up. pretty sure i went through drivers ed...in. the. snow. here in seattle, life shuts down.
• sitting on the floor blogging for hours....because on a day off...i cannot stand to just sit on the couch all day (mind you, stuck at home!). say it together now, tushy is numb!
• daily interactions between finn and our mailman....needless to say, i don't think we'll ever be friends
• bursting what seemed like 45 million blood vessels in your eye and having to walk around a)with your dated, ill-fitting glasses on all week, and a SCARY eye...

awesome:

• mlk day was monday=day off=three day weekend. worked tuesday. snow days wednesday and thursday....so awesome. that means it's thursday and i've worked one day this week!
• having two extra days off with my husband this week. waking up and seeing him, being able to go back to sleep, and then being physically stuck at home with him. no to-do's to be completed, no house work to be done, just yummy food, movies and TV series catch ups, naps and good times just the two of us.....and the dogs. #blessing!
• while seemingly everyone i know is losing power at their homes, we're still up and running here. someone knock on wood if you jive with that type o' thing (i obviously do not...).
• cream cheese and smoked salmon scramble with hashbrowns (breakfast yesterday) and chocolate chip pancakes (breakfast today), 'nuf said.

1. i hate jello...but i love any drink you could possibly imagine in it's form.
2. pintrest is killing me...and by that i mean taking up ALL of my time.
3. the colors in this home that i would never be able to pull off in my own.
4. chalk board pots. perfect for your indoor herb garden.
5. this wine cork bath mat...becuase how green can one get? allll of those corks can be used for something now:)

dear sweet valley house,

i will be honest. i have been neglecting you. life is hectic...mostly in my mind.but it is hectic. with a husband busy with a new business endeavor, a small zoo to tend to, a home needing constant care and naps needing to be tended to-life is busy. also, i am uninspired as of late. i feel terrible. you do not deserve to be at the blunt end of my sad, uninspired sword. spring may be coming soon. here in seattle it feels as if it is trying-at least.....

i promise that once spring arrives i will, in fact, be more inspired. not fullly inspired. just more...inspired. until then-i promise not...not a thing-except that i will try. i will post at least 3-4x/week. i will prove to you that i love you-even in my funk.

i will talk to you-directly to you, valley house. i will talk to you about the new and simple supplements i'm finally taking. i will tell you more about the weather here in seattle. we can talk about my constant headaches and my home reno updates.

dear, sweet blog, i promise i will tell you all about the good deals i've been finding. my new $4 tees that have been making my heart sing with comfy lately, my $3 good will garden pot made utensil holder that fits perfectly with all the other sweet, cherished green items in my kitchen, things of this sort.

we can talk about my search for the perfect duvet cover-not the ones i've already found and love...for they are perfect except for their $200+  pricetags and i just cannot, in my deal-finding ways, spend that much. but we can talk about my journey, my journey to a new, high-quality, deal of a bed spread journey. i know, blog, that you know me, and you know how important my bed is.

i'll dish to you about the dogs. the dogs and their silly ways. i'll share with you my dreams to spend my daily work hours doing something more productive, fulfilling and meaningful. we can gab about my closest friends-and how awesome they are, how they keep me floating, even when i don't feel i deserve it. i will share with you my current recipes, what i've been forcing my husband to eat, and how much i'm loving my new found relationship with cooking and baking. we can swap things we're hearing, seeing and finding on all the other amazing blogs around. we can. we will.

dear blog, all of those things-all of the ridiculous silly things that no one realllllly wants to hear about, all of those things we used to talk about a number of times per day (!!!) i will bring to you. i promise. i know the feeling of neglect and it is painful. i will not neglect you blog, sweet valley house-be not afraid.

nursery love.

am i boring?

likely. i don't do much. i talk about nonsense on dis here blog. i want to spend the night away for my 25th birthday (instead of the traditional eat cake and get trashed number...i guess?)....no dogs...no house...no cat...no to-dos...just sleep, eat, relax+husband:)

so here we go again. house talk. boring house talk. maybe i'm significantly unoriginal. maybe i'm just thinking of resale and the fact that yes i like unique things but that's simply what i'll fill my house with (vs including these unique things in the actual permanent design of the house). blah blah and more blah.

this morning on diary of lovely (a lovely blogski i follow-pun intended) i found this here kitchen. or...as one would opt to say...the dhouse kitchen's tiwn:) it has a slew of the same elements as our kitchen either already has or will in the near future...a space saver microwave, open shelving (we'll have a very minimal amount), stainless steel, butcher board, schoolhouse lighting, apron sink, industrial pull-down faucet, generally speaking small space...even the glass containers that provide home for sugar, flour and such --we have (thank you ikea and target...serious tho)--however i not only keep flour and sugar in these here glass babies...but dog treats and food (heh).


one thing i'll avoid...tid bit too much clutter for this girl:) but what can you do with limited space....now to get a bright green tea pot...

apparently today i'm posting all of my thoughts and feelings (ok DEF NOT ALL-you'd be way overwhelmed if that was the truth).

this blog cracks me up a little. i'm just checking out their recipe for cashew chicken and as this woman is pouring her heart felt love for jasmine rice out (alllll over the place) she says this, "We ate it for dinner last night, but it was so good that it’s on the menu for a second night in a row. If you know me, you know that is a huge thing in this house. Eating the same thing for dinner two nights in a row nearly makes me break out in hives. Unless it includes chocolate and/or bacon."

i dunno. i don't adequately know how to use my blog. how to design. make things look cool and actu functionally. i'm stummped. :( so i'm tryin' out wordpress at http://houseofthevalley.wordpress.com/. all the same 411...still me...just tryin' it out.
